About Alana:

Alana Nichols is a paralympic wheelchair basketball player and alpine skier. She was paralyzed in 2000 after landing back first on a rock while attempting a backflip. Her debut came in 2008 when she won gold with the women's paralympic basketball team in Beijing. She then trained for alpine skiing where she won two gold medals in the 2010 Vancouver winter games. She is the first American woman with gold medals in the summer and winter games.
