I went vegetarian about nine months ago and as much as I am loving the results, I often get bored of the food I prepare.
The best way to ward off the food blues? Sauce of course!
Follow along with our sparkling juice blog today to discover 3 sauces that can upgrade your next meal!
Deglaze with Tea
It's an old kitchen habit from Quebec to use black tea to deglaze a pan.
After you've prepared your meal, add 1/2 cup black tea to your pan, along with 1-2 tbsp of acid (lemon juice or vinegar will do).
Cook this mixture until it thickens. Remove from heat and add 2 tbsp of cold butter plus some salt and pepper. Enjoy on meat or fish.
Like our healthy soda, this sauce is made from natural ingredients and it absolutely delicious!
Crème de Soja
History tells us that this sauce was created by a legendary Montreal chef, named Nicolas Jongleux. Although it has soy sauce, it tastes French.
To make this sauce, whip 1/2 cup heavy cream into soft peaks. Simmer 1/3 cup soy sauce in a saucepan. Whisk in whipped cream until sauce is smooth. Add a drip of mustard if you like!
The nice thing about creating your own sauce at home is that you know what ingredients go into it. Well, you won't experience any confusion when it comes to our healthy soda alternative. Made with 100% natural ingredients and created to be an unsweetened soda, you always know what you are putting into your body.
This tasty sauce is incredibly similar to a bordelaise, except it's made with balsamic. Not unlike our tangerine soda that tastes just like Orange Fanta or Sunkist, but with considerably less sugar and no artificial ingredients.
To make this sauce, melt 1 tbsp of butter in a skillet and add 1 chopped shallot and 1 chopped beet until soft. Add 3 tbsp each of balsamic vinegar and water, 1 tsp of soy sauce, plus salt and pepper. Cook until thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in 4 tbsp of cold butter then strain.
Spice Up Your Day
These sauces are all pretty simple, with limited ingredients. All of the ingredients are natural, just like our natural soda.
What we like about these sauces it that they add a little spice to your meal. Our soda soft drink has much the same effect!
