So, leptin. 

It's a hormone that is produced by fat cells. It is also found in smaller amounts in the brain, stomach, intestines, skeletal muscle, breast tissue, and much more. 

Why am I talking so much about it?

Well, it turns out, leptin is actually a super important "master hormone" that aids our bodies by:

  • regulating immune function

These cells are central part of your immune system and necessary for fighting off infections! 

How To Encourage Happy Leptin Levels and Functioning

Now that we have validated the importance of leptin when it comes to immunity and fighting infections, how do we ensure that we are producing the correct amount? 

It's actually easier than you may have thought!

Everyone's leptin-optimizing fat, carb and protein ratios are different, but generally speaking, there are a few ways that you can encourage proper leptin function!

  • increase variety of plant fat
  • increase variety of animal fat (always consume grass-fed)
  • limit/cut processed food intake
  • consume more dark greens
