Bring the Sparkle on Labor Day with these Cocktail Recipes

While our rational brain knows that there is much more to Labor Day than the party, there’s nothing wrong with letting our I-Work-Too-Much-And-Love-A-Long-Weekend brain takeover this week.

That’s right, summer is seeing itself out, and pumpkin spice everything is seeing it’s way in… but not before one last hoorah with Wave!

Whether your throwing a backyard bash or just enjoying a relaxing day on the front porch with your inner circle, there’s no reason you shouldn’t toast to Labor Day with some sparkly signature cocktails. And here at Wave, sparkling drinks are our speciality. These are two of our favorite end-of-summer cocktails that are sure to add a little fun and flavor to your celebration. 

The Super Paloma

Ahh, a classic. And is there any better way to honor summer than with a little tequila? 


The Recipe: (Makes one drink.)

2 oz Tequila or Mezcal

½ oz lime juice

½ oz grapefruit juice

½ oz simple syrup (or a teaspoon of sugar)

2 oz Grapefruit Wave Soda (Kick of the flavor by using our flavored sparkling water in lieu of plain old club soda!)



Grab your collins glass, slide a lime around the rim, and dip it in rock salt. Fill the glass with fresh ice and put it to the side. Grab your shaker and pour in the lime juice, grapefruit juice, simple (if you’re using sugar you’ll have to muddle it in) and tequila. Top it with ice and shake! Strain your yummy concoction over the fresh ice and top it off with Grapefruit Wave. Garnish with a grapefruit twist. 

Labor-free Sparkling Sangria

For those of you saying, “I prefer my party drinks in a pitcher rather than a glass.”


The Recipe: (Makes a big ole’ punch bowl)

2 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc 

1 cup of Triple Sec

½ cup of Blue Raspberry Svedka

½ cup of simple

½ cup of lemon juice

A case of Blackberry Waves (Healthy soda means healthy sangria, right?)

Blueberries, raspberries and pineapple. 


Take a punch bowl or a large pitcher and add a pint of blueberries, a pint of strawberries and two cups of pineapple chunks. (If you have the extra time, it’s fun and festive to use a star shaped cookie cutter for the pineapple!) Pour wine, triple sec, vodka, simple syrup and lemon juice over the fruit, stir and chill. When serving, scoop  fruit and drink into a wine glass until the cup is ¾ full, and then top it off with a touch of Blackberry wave.
