6 Things You Should Always Keep in Your Fridge

Man, life is busy, isn’t it? So busy in fact that sometimes it’s hard to find time to eat!

Alas, the slippery slope that leads to mindless eating and fast food in the car. But that just won’t do. You’re trying to stay on that healthy grind! So here are a few things you should always keep in the kitchen that will help you stay on your healthy eating kick, even when it’s not so convenient.

A bag of pre peeled garlic cloves

Garlic is the key to… everything? Yes. Everything. But honestly, it’s a pain in the ass to peel! If you keep a bag of pre-peeled cloves in the fridge you’re much more inclined to whip up something quick and yummy. Think: sunny side up eggs with garlic and peppercorns or bruschetta with tomato, garlic, olive oil and balsamic.

Cottage cheese

Cottage cheese is the perfect breakfast/snack/dessert in a pinch. Throw in some blueberries in the morning, eat it with ritz crackers when your craving chips and dip or mix it up with your favorite jam for a low calorie after dinner dessert. Talk about a jack of all trades!

A can of Amy’s Lentils

Lentils are one of my go-to meals. But cooking them can be a bit of a to-do, especially if you’re pressed for time. Pop the can, warm them in a pan or the microwave, and you’re good to go. Easy, healthy and with a super home cooked taste. (Vegetable lentil in the green can is the best… I’ve tried them all!!)

Your favorite nuts/nut butter

Walnuts are great. Walnut butter? Don’t even get me started. Did you know that was a thing? Well it is. And it’s the best thing. Keep your favorite nuts or nut butter around for a quick, satisfying snack you can throw in your bag and take on the go.

A bulk tupperware full of your favorite meal

I know this is a post about not having time to cook… but when you do, cook in bulk. Take your favorite recipe and x it by 5! Keep it in your fridge or freezer to heat up when you’re craving a home-cooked meal. My favorite is this sweet potato and black bean hash. Great with eggs in the morning or with sriracha and tortillas for lunch!

 A case of Wave Soda

Ever wake up so late you don’t even have time to hit your favorite coffee drive thru? Keep a case of Wave Soda in the fridge so you can grab one on the way out the door. It’s got a happy dose of caffeine, only 25 calories and none of that icky aspartame you’ll find in the vending machine sodas at work!
